Do not invent falsehoods against Allah[2] lest He destroy you with a scourge. Surely those who invent lies shall come to grief." _Dipnotlar_ - [1] The adversaries whom Prophet Moses addressed were Pharaoh and his courtiers who had dubbed him as a sorcerer, and not the common people, who had yet to see the encounter between him and the magicians. - [2] The inventing of lie was that they had dubbed Allah’s Messenger as a sorcerer and his miracles as a piece of sorcery. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Moses said unto them: Woe unto you! You do not make up a lie against Allah, else He completely destroy (all of) you (at once) with (severe) punishment: Surely, he who makes up lies (against Allah) fails totally!" ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "Woe betide you", said Mussa to the magicians, "do not devise falsehood against Allah lest He should uproot you by a torment He lays upon the damned. The hopes of those who devise falsehood are doomed to disappointment". ### Shabbir Ahmed Moses warned Pharaoh's debaters, "Woe unto you!
